EYES WIDE OPEN (Einaym Pkuhot)
Aaron (stage veteran Zohar Strauss), a respected butcher and a family man in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood in Jerusalem, leads a conservative life of community devotion and spiritual dedication. His life undergoes a series of emotional changes following the arrival of Ezri (Israeli heartthrob Ran Danker) a young apprentice to his shop. Consumed with lust, the handsome yeshiva student irreversibly transforms the intricate beliefs in the once-devoted butcher's life - leading Aaron to question his relationships with his wife, children, community and God. Zohar Strauss won the 2009 Jerusalem Film Festival Best Actor award for his breakthrough portrayal of a man tormented by traditional religious boundaries in Israel. "A film of scrupulous sympathy...a gem of insight; taboo-breaking in an intense, restrained drama..." - VARIETY Community Partner: ImageOut: Rochester LGBT Film and Video Festival
