Joan Nathan
Quiches, Kugels, and Couscous: My Search for Jewish Cooking in France
Monday, October 22; 12PM; JCC Auditorium; $15/$18
(Tickets must be purchased by 10/15.)

What is Jewish cooking in France? That question haunted Joan Nathan over the years and fueled her curiosity about this hidden cuisine. Now she serves up the fruits of her quest in this extraordinary book, a treasure trove of delectable kosher recipes and the often moving stories behind them. Nathan places in context all she has unearthed through interlaced observations about the tumultuous, 2,000-year history of Jewish life in France. Her earlier books include Jewish Cooking in America and The New American Cooking, both of which won the James Beard Award and the International Association of Culinary Professionals Cookbook Award.

Lunch: Tuna in a pita, pretzels, dessert and beverage. A sample from Joan Nathan's cookbook will also be served.
